The base is built as a box with a timber deck, then upholstered, so the weight sits on the frame and not on the cloth.
The drawers run on steel runners and are lined in timber — they are for bedding, and they are built to take it.
Gold feet and pulls to match a framed board above it, if that is where you are going.
